Robotics is on the rise in businesses

The use of robotics in the professional environment is growing exponentially. Whether the objective is to automate processes, entertain customers or increase productivity, more and more companies are choosing to equip themselves with robots. Here is everything you need to know.

Robotics is on the rise in companies

In recent years, advances in technology and artificial intelligence (AI) have prompted companies to view robotization as an axis of development. Indeed, more and more companies are using new technologies, in particular robots, to automate their production systems.

In the industrial sector, “cobotics” is a real success. The idea is to building a collaborative relationship between an intelligent robot and a humanand not to replace him. Robots, called “cobots” in this case, can perform a multitude of tasks in order to help operators in their work and to relieve them of the most painful missions. They combine the know-how and decision-making power of the human with the strength, endurance and precision of the robot.

Why equip your company with robots?

The major advantage of robots in companies is that they allow toincrease productivity. They can, among other things, carry out the assembly of parts, sorting, welding or tasks that require a lot of force. This reduces the risk of errors and accidents in the workplace and allows for better quality control of products. Robots are also useful in the case of inventories. They can save teams time by navigating through warehouses more quickly. By allowing employees to focus on less repetitive tasks, they have more time and freedom of movement, which improves corporate culture.

In addition to this, virtual machines, such as chatbots, can dialogue with consumers through an automated conversation service, a way to improve the customer experience by offering another communication channel. Some robotic technologies are also used for entertainment purposes, for example in stores, while others can deliver products to the home autonomously. With robotic technologies, companies can also contribute to the challenges of sustainable development. A robot developed by AMP Robotics can, for example, sort waste. Finally, some robots help medicine by allowing to precisely target cancerous tumors or by making personalized prostheses for patients.

Corporate robots: what about tomorrow?

Some robot projects are particularly promising. This is the case of Optimus, imagined by Tesla. Its vocation: to replace humans for tedious tasks, for example in factories. Another example is Bex, presented by a Japanese company. Its mission: to monitor warehouses or transport goods to relieve workers. As you can see, robotics is a sector in the making, so much so that some wonder if technologies will one day replace humans.

Due to the rise of artificial intelligence, automation will indeed grow, offering companies new opportunities for development. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that robots will ever replace humans within organizations. More operational than strategic, these machines will hardly be able to replace the “soft skills” specific to human beings, such as creativity, emotionality, adaptability, negotiation, management or flexibility. Moreover, while AI-based technologies can make decisions according to predefined parameters, they are not (yet) able to make their own decisions.
